Walking along Shepherdess Walk after visiting The Eagle I reached the William IV pub and looking left down Micawber Street and along a street of Georgian Terraces I saw the future. Or at the least, the end of the past. Two more spanking new buildings. And big ones at that.

Built by the side of the City Road Basin that hangs off the Regents Canal, the one on the left is the Canaletto Tower, the other is The Lexicon Tower. Both lovely, I’m sure, but each of them is really just a little more generic glassware hugging London’s waterfront and leaving the old city in shadow.

London is changing so quickly. Blink and there’s a new building just where there used to be a view.
