Georgie Fame at Ronnie Scott’s club on a Saturday night

Ronnie Scott’s jazz club on Frith Street is one of London’s musical gems.

We saw 72 year old Georgie Fame supported by Guy Barker’s big band last night.

He’s still got the voice which he uses like a tenor sax, kicking off with a sensational and pacy “Yeh Yeh.”

He’s also still got the stories which are both littered with jazz name drops and earthily funny.

The old club has been spruced in recent times and the food is now very edible. Ticket prices have hiked but they now make some money, as Georgie pointed out.

A real treat of a night.

  2. Thanks Uli. It was a great show and I think the play list was the same when we went. (I wonder if his between song stories were the same?) His voice is still wonderful.
